50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Airman of the Month for July at Paine Air Force Base was Airman Second Class Floyd Odom of 326th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. A native of Flint, Mich., Odom lived in Everett with his wife, Barbara, and son, Michael.
All brand new 1959 Fords and 1959 Ford house cars went on sale this morning at Hutchings Motors, 3102 Rucker Ave. This included two doors, four doors, six cylinders, eight cylinders, station wagons, Galaxies and convertibles. Down payments were small and there were bank terms with 36 months to pay.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Frontier Bank planned to open a drive-up facility and real estate loan center in the former Tyee Mortgage Co. building at 2612 Wetmore Ave. The building also would house the bank’s administrative offices. The drive-up operation was designed to serve Frontier’s downtown office at 2831 Wetmore Ave. Heading up the loan center was Jim Ries.
Consolidate Freightway Inc. was to build a half-block long terminal in the 3100 block of McDougall Avenue. Mayor Bill Moore announced the move today at the City Council meeting. Consolidated would lease the site from Ben Newland and Newland Construction Co.
