50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Elderbloom Club recently met at Central Christian Church. Winifred Eisenman sang two solos. Luncehon was served at noon by women of the church. Emma LePage, president, conducted the meeting. It was announced that Lily Segraves and Stella Pendroy would be charge of the program next week.
Twin brothers Tim and Jim Bortner shared the honor of being the Exchange Club’s Boy of the Month. They were the sons of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bortner. The Girl of the Month was Ann Lawrence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lawrence. Don Jennings presented the awards.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Paul Pritchard was profiled in a Herald article by Gary Nelson. The North Middle School teacher liked to involve his students actively in all learning. Student Dawn Carter said he pushed them but didn’t overdo it. Pritchard said students learned if you believed they could.
Sharon Weispfenning, administration aide to County Executive Willis Tucker, said the County Council approved extending its ties to the Visitors’ Information Center on 164th Street with a three-month $3,000 contribution.
