50 YEARS AGO (1959)
New officers of the Snohomish County chapter of the American Institute of Banking were installed at the annual meeting and party at Everett Golf and Country Club. They were Doris Hoffman of Everett Trust and Savings Bank, Wally Wise of Everett Trust and Savings Bank, Ruth Brotten of the Everett branch of Peoples National Bank of Washington, and Margie Waygood of the Lynnwood branch of Everett First National Bank.
The Everett High School yearbook Nesika was dedicated to Bert Vanderwilt, principal of the school since 1938 except during the war years, when he served his country.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Members of the William Preston Burns family were enjoying their first four-generation gathering the past week or so. Keeping names straight was a snap. There was William Preston Burns Sr. of Maui, Hawaii, William Preston Burns Jr. of Everett, and William Preston Burns III and William Preston Burns IV of Sacramento, Calif.
Robert Gray received the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Americanism Award at a Memorial Day program at Edmonds High School. Gray represented the Lynnwood Elks. The traditional program included participation by civic, patriotic and fraternal organizations along with representatives of the four armed services.
