50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Ronald Dahl, 16, 2920 16th St., a Daily Herald junior dealer, showed State Patrolman Vic Painter and Everett Traffic Capt. John Olson that he had a valid driver’s license to operate his motor bicycle. City and state officials were calling to the attention of parents and motor bicycle owners that effective June 11, operators of the vehicle had to be 16 years of age and have a regular state driver’s license.
Roy Romaneski paid the first pledge to the Darrington Hospital Guild for the proposed medical clinic. Accepting the payment on behalf of the guild were Katherine Vevig and Helen Lemmon. The guild had tables set up in the Darrington Bank to accept additional pledge payments.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
They were ready to dedicate the Gehl Pioneer Home, a log home reconstructed at Jennings Park in Marysville by the Marysville Historical Society. It was located at 7027 51st Ave. NE.
Joe Belinch of Marysville defeated Rowdy Welch of Spokane to advance to the semifinal round of the 132-pound class in the U.S. Olympic boxing trials in Fort Worth, Texas.
