50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Michael L. Connacher, son of Gwen Connacher, Route 5, Arlington, had accepted a position with the National Bank of Commerce in Kennewick. He was a graduate of Arlington High School, Everett Junior College and Washington State College. In addition, he’d spent three years in the Army.
Zion Lutheran Church of Silvana, “the Little Church on the Hill,” was noting its 75th anniversary with special services Sunday. Dr. S.C. Eastvold of Pacific Lutheran College was the principal speaker and greetings from pastors throughout the area would be read.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Stephen W. Currie was promoted to EM5 senior process engineer at Scott Paper Co. Curie, who joined the company in May 1970, had been the packaging/purchasing administrator.
Weyerhaeuser tried out the new Port of Everett’s Norton Terminal for the first time this week as 3.2 million board feet of lumber was loaded onto a barge. The lumber, which was headed for the company’s California market, represented about a week’s worth of production at the local mill, company spokesman Jim Bradbury said.
