50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Ann Williams, Everett High School senior, was the first girl to receive training in radio at the school’s radio shop. A permanent Torch and business education student, she stated she found her radio operator’s license was adding new friends from all parts of the world. On graduation, she hoped to find a position in the communications industry.
Clifford Byers, machinist’s mate fireman apprentice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Byers, Lake Stevens, recently graduated from machinist’s mate school at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Two employees of the Department of Social and Health Service Region 3 office were named the region’s outstanding employees for 1983. Chosen were Al Baker, claims representative of the Everett office of support enforcement, and Joan Bernhard, financial technician in the Mountlake Terrace community-service office. The region included Snohomish, Island, Skagit, San Juan and Whatcom counties.
J. Griffin Covert was installed as exalted ruler of Everett Elks Lodge 497. Other officers installed recently were James Falkner, Richard Cirillo, Roger Ankney, Dale Lyman, Geroge Shuh, George Hooper, Kenneth McKnight and Al Gresso.
