50 YEARS AGO (1959)
An art exhibit of paintings by Minerva Speer would hang in First Federal Savings and Loan Association, 2822 Wetmore Ave., during February. A member of the Art League of Everett, Speer’s painting developed out of an appreciation for art. She also spent a year studying in European galleries. Most of the paintings were of local scenery.
Everett Junior College’s Sweetheart Ball would take place at Eagles Hall. Sponsoring the dance were the Associated Women and Men Students. On the planning committee were Jeri Weldon, Don Fenton, Burton Cool, Penny Parker, Dorothy Allen Shiela Mohr, Judy Nelson and Tom Gill.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
The price of regular gasoline had dipped below the dollar mark in Western Washington. The trend was expected to move east of the mountains too. In Snohomish County, self-service stations were hovering around $1.01 and $1.02
The American Scandinavian Student Exchange was seeking local families to serve as hosts for 15 Scandinavian, German, Swiss and British high school students who were part of the ASSE exchange visitor program. More information could be obtained by contacting Ione Bard, 333 E. Lake Stevens Road.
