Donna Hecker and Dave Pettet were all dressed up for Everett Junior College’s annual winter formal at Inglewood Golf and Country Club. The theme was “Spray in Ice Blue,” with dancing to Danny Haviland’s orchestra.
Lincoln Hi-Y Club was hosting its first all-high school dance tomorrow at the YMCA. Mike Webber was the chairman. Among the many others helping with arrangements were Dick Billings, Steve Deisher, Dave Miller, Dave Ramstad, Mitch Cogdill, Mike Rudd, Mike Webb, Tim Fowler, Frank Brauch and Bob Coplin.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
An increasing problem was what to do about “Mount Firestone,” a 30-foot stack of some three or four million used tires on about 10 acres formerly used as the city dump. Those leasing the property had planned to use the tires as fuel, but now weren’t even paying their rent. Mayor assistant Joe Kovslovski was hoping the city could find someone to haul the tires away.
The state now had a computerized lottery. Terminals in Everett included the 7/Eleven stores on North Broadway and Evergreen Way, Bunny’s Gas and Grocery, Evergreen Lanes, Second Thawts Grocery, Shefield and Sons, Bean Bag Grocery, Vernon’s Mini Mart and the Sport Center Café.
