50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Frank Robinson of Home Portrait Studio left Sunday for Chicago to attend the International Fair convention. He traveled there not as a photographer. He also owned Western Shows which played in Everett during the Fourth of July and Maritime Days celebrations.
The list of aspirants for starting positions with the Everett Junior College basketball team was boiled down to five, according to Trojan coach Paul Blowers. They were Tommy Hollis and Jim Thornton as guards, Brad Wilson at center, and forwards Doug McLean and Mike Crowley. The eight reserves were Gary Smalley, John Smith, Jerry Thompson, A.C. Chocklin, Ken Fitch, Ted Uerling, Charles Gulley and Terry Nixon.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
Officer Scott Wicken, a veteran of five years on the Lake Stevens police force, was named acting chief by Mayor Bill Cornish. Wicken replaced longtime chief Joe Davidson, who retired. The city was accepting applications for a permanent successor to Davidson. The process would take three to four months.
Lake Stevens High School band director Michael Edmonson announced the formation of a new Band Booster Association. The group was open to all persons who wanted to work toward the betterment of the school band program.
