50 YEARS AGO (1959)
After nearly 29 years of making sure that Marysville’s mail got from the Great Northern depot to that community’s post office, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foster were going to sit back and let the mail carriers bring the mail to them. Now retired, the couple was feted by fellow postal workers at a coffee hour at the Marysville Post Office.
Two south county buildings were damaged by lightning. Bolts struck the Moby Dick Cafe on Highway 99 in Lynnwood and the home of D.J. Owenby, 6815 176th Ave. W., in the Meadowdale area.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
A new $75,978 boat lift approved by Port of Everett commissioners would go on duty to haul boats from the water at the Everett marina this spring. The new lift had a capacity of 35 tons and could lift boats 24 to 50 feet long, marina supervisor Don Hamilton said.
A one-day “how-to-do-it” seminar for potential and current small-business exporters would be at the Ramada Everett Pacific Hotel. The cost of $35 included lunch and materials.
