50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Practice sessions started tomorrow at Everett grade schools for the Chick Berry basketball leagues. Chuck Horensky was the Garfield school instructor. Eager students at the school were sixth-grader Larry Nelson, fifth-grader Bill Harsh and fourth-grader Bob Dickson.
Michael Dale Jellum was two years old today and very happy about the whole thing. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Jellum of Lake Stevens. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Wilkins of Lowell, Mabel Jellum of Bellingham and Henry Jellum of Everett.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
Bud Gould, owner of the Anthony’s Home Port at the proposed Everett Marina Village, said plans were being hammered out for the eatery seating 160. Pelican Pete &Toucan Sam’s would be the other major restaurant. The complex also would house about 13 retail shops.
A pair of area prep football players were named to the Washington State Sportswriters Association 1983 Class AAA-AA all-state high school football team. The two were Snohomish linebacker Brad Johnson, The Herald’s defensive player of the year, and Arlington running back Shawn Shepherd.
