50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Employees of Everett Trust and Savings Bank voted to aid needy families this year in place of having the annual Christmas party. Clothing and toys for eight county families were purchased. On the committee arranging the charitable act were Mary Egge, Doris Hoffman, Jack Hovik, Ann Stump and Elwin Anderson.
Junior high-age people were looking forward to the annual party for juniors at Everett Golf and Country Club this year. Parents were serving dinner or having Coke-tail parties for them. Marilyn Gish and Priscilla Smith were having supper parties. Checking over records for the dance were Peter Newland, Dean Torkelson and Nancy Lauer.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
Harry Wagner, a 12-year member of the Lake Stevens School Board who was leaving office at the end of the year, was honored by the Lake Stevens Education Association. He was to received the “Better Understanding of Education Award” plaque at formal ceremonies in January.
Home for the holidays from the law school at Harvard University was Eric Z. Lucas of Everett. He was a member of the first graduating class of Mariner High School.
