50 YEARS AGO (1958)
“A Blue Composition” and 16 other paintings of Everett artist Faye Hamilton were on display in the First Federal Savings lobby at 2822 Wetmore Ave. until Christmas.
Starting this year’s Everett Central Lions Club’s light bulb sale was Hi-Y member Bill Almon, who made a sale to Mayor George Culmback. Also on hand were club president Herb Wilson and sales chairman Bob Boyle. Sales profits from the bagged assortments of bulbs would go to help Everett-area blind persons.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
The jury was still out on how the opening of the Snohomish Highway 2 Bypass had affected Snohomish businesses. Store owners Vic Vogel and Dave Haycock said the whole situation had changed with business dropping dramatically. Newell Dana, owner of the Hub Drive-In, said the situation was better now because the heavy traffic before gave him an access problem. In other Snohomish road news, the Avenue D bridge was being demolished.
Snohomish County’s Division of Surface Water Management was sponsoring a Stream Enhancement Workshop in the County Administration Building for those who wanted to “Adopt-A-Stream.” Tom Murdock was in charge.
