50 years ago (1961)
Richard and Shirley Leese and their children, Marcie and Martin, 5108 Sunset Lane, were one of several Everett area families participating in the family swim at the Everett YMCA.
A quartet of Everett High School juniors, chosen by the local committee of the American
Field Service as possible exchange students to a northern European country for 1962-63, looked over a globe to where one of them might travel. They were Marilyn Winde, Margery Robison, Matt Wiggum and Nancy Lauer.
25 years ago (1986)
In the basement of Bible Way Church, a Pentecostal church located on Wetmore Ave., a small group of Christians were feeding hot lunches to the hungry. The church was led by Pastor Jerry R. Ramsey. Argentina Smith was one of the people preparing the meals.
St. Cecilia’s Church in Stanwood was having an open house so that members of the congregation and the public could pray for peace. Pope John Paul II and other world religious leaders were meeting at the same time for the same purpose in Assisi, Italy.
