Students sketched in the sunshine at Grand Park. It was the art program, a recent addition to a children’s theater project. For further information on the classes that were running in June and July, people could contact Ruth Hammond or Kay Zuanich.
Approval of the construction this fiscal year of five grade-separation bridges south of Everett on the Everett-Tacoma freeway was granted by the Washington State Highway Commission. Estimated cost was $650,000. They were located at Maple Road, Martha Lake Road (164th), Post Road (128th) and two on Stock Show Road (112th).
25 years ago (1986)
Boeing’s employment in the Puget Sound region stood a chance to increase the remainder of the year. The local payroll might rise by 800 to 79,000 workers. The first half of the year rose by 4,500 to 78,200, the highest since 1980. No numbers for just the Everett plant were given.
The Snohomish County Arts Festival (formerly Equinox) was scheduled for later this month at Forest Park. It would include a juried art show, craft booths, poetry reading, student art exhibits, musical entertainment, children’s activities and a porch gallery.
