50 years ago (1961)
When the Thunderbirds arrived in Everett to perform at the Air Fair at Paine Field this weekend fittingly they would their travel needs would be in Thunderbirds. Planning for this were Bill Klein, Ken Tapert and Roy Spradlin.
Holding Mid-City League championship trophies just presented by Tournament Chairman Dick Sanford were Mike Waldrop and Dan Hutsell of the county champion Martha Lake Everybody’s Braves; Bill Harsh and Dale Rice of second place H.O. Seiffert’s of Everett, and Clayton White of Oil Heat of Everett, the third place winners. The championship game was played at the Madison School diamond.
25 years ago (1986)
According to a report from David E. Livingston 17 people attended the annual potluck dinner meeting for retired employees and friend of the American Tugboat Company held at Legion Park. American Tugboat, which began operation in 1903, later became Dunlap Towing Company.
This weekend for the first time since 1933 the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary were holding their state conventions in Everett. Events would take place at the Everett Pacific Hotel, Nendel’s Everett Inn and the Everett Elks Club.
