50 years ago (1961)
Vida Bullock presided at the regular meeting of Our Golden Hours Club at the Westerner Room. Hazel Marshall was in charge of the contingent in today’s Fourth of July parade. They discussed ways to publicize the Red, White and Blue Striped Cane, which originated in Everett.
Social Club of Everett Chapter No. 222, Order of Eastern Star, was planning its annual picnic at Legion Park. Jeannette Holmes chaired the committee in charge which included Mary Nordquist, Bertha Spence, Juanita Mahlum and Dorothy Weir.
25 years ago (1986)
Two players from Everett were among a team of 17- and 18-year-olds that won the Northwest Dizzy Dean baseball tournament last weekend and would advance to the national tournament next week in Pensacola, Fla. They were Danny Wruble of Everett and Mitch Clark of Cascade. Both pitched and played outfield for J.K. Supply.
A beautiful model cedar home was being erected by Double “S” Cedar Homes at 9609 Evergreen Way. Construction would go on all next week. The house was going on as a special for the next month.
