50 years ago (1961)
Many years of service to Park Board and community were recognized yesterday when the board voted unanimously to designate Silver Lake Park as the Thornton A. Sullivan Recreational Area. Sullivan was currently serving as board chairman, a post he had held for many years.
Thomas Windham of Gold Bar and Bob Windham of Illinois, father and son, were united last week for the first time in 32 years. They were separated by a divorce when Bob was two. They planned to spend two weeks together.
25 years ago (1986)
The cast of “The Music Man,” Everett School District’s summer production, would entertain at the Snohomish County Arts Festival at Forest Park and during downtown Everett’s street fair. Tickets were available at Carousel Music, the Everett Community Services Office and at Laura McNally and Assoc.
All students, parents and staff of Roosevelt Grade School from its opening in 1929 to its closing in 1973 were invited to attend a reunion and special program on Aug. 23. The remodeled building at 6830 Highland Drive was now the New Life Center.
