50 years ago (1961)
The Everett Shut-In Club was to meet at the home of Frances Bradley, 1616 Rockefeller Ave. Ann Wilson and Lois Dye would be assisting hostesses. Primary business of the evening would be the completion of plans for the annual Legion Park dinners the club gave for shut-ins.
Members of the South Junior High School staff honored Raymond B. Farr, metal shop teacher at the school since it opened in 1926, at a retirement dinner at Waldheim. Farr only missed one day at South because of sickness, and that was just two weeks ago.
25 years ago (1986)
The old Hat Slough Bridge, a Stanwood area landmark for more than 60 years, was now floating on a barge just offshore from the Jensen & Reynolds Construction Co. which engineered its removal on May 24. The company was located near the Everett Yacht Club. Dick Eitel of Fishermen’s Boat Shop was the new owner.
Recently achieving the rank of Army sergeant were Daniel A. Hershaw, an armored vehicle mechanic serving in West Germany, and Alvin J. Abrahamson, a team leader with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Both men were from Arlington.
