50 years ago (1961)
The Everett Theater had a new “Easy View” screen that had no seams, was glare proof, easy on the eyes and ensured perfect vision from every seat.
Frank Stewart was named overall winner at the Second Annual Novice Water Ski Tournament held in front of the Harry Fletcher residence on Lake Stevens. Todd Krekow won the boys slalom, Steve Moody was second and Mike Montgomery was third. Pam Baird won the girls slalom flowed by Allyson Williams, Susan Wicklund and Marcia Lee.
25 years ago (1986)
Once Pigeon Creek No. 1 in Everett was teeming was teeming with fish, but with the city’s expansion and industrial growth they were long gone. Dan Mathias of the city’s Public Works Department was hoping to see that change. A drainage basin near Fleming Road was planned.
David E. Brooks, son of William and Sylvia Brooks of Edmonds, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. He was a graduate of Woodway High School.
