50 years ago (1961)
Superior Court Judge Denney showed Everett High School seniors Florence Bryant and Dennis Johnson a law book passage in explaining functions of his court. The veteran jurist, along with Everett attorney Lloyd Meeds, spoke to senior government classes today for Law Day.
Marysville Junior High School had student body elections. Officers for next year were John King, president; Marnee Leifer, vice president; Kathy Covert, secretary; and Gale Smoke, treasurer. Balloting was on voting machines courtesy of the county auditor’s office.
25 years ago (1986)
The piglets at Everett’s Forest Park were called Jill and Nancy, but neither recreation coordinator Jill Kramer nor recreation supervisor Nancy Sicktich had any idea who had selected the monikers. Park Director Bob Cooper and Assistant Director Jim Shields denied any knowledge of the naming, but laughed when they heard about it.
York Heat Pumps, which were reliable and efficient, could save 50 per cent or more on heating bills. They were available at Dawn Enterprises on 196th, just west of Fred Meyer. Dawn also serviced all brands of gas, oil or electric furnaces. They were authorized PUD contractors.
