A May Day-spawned lightning storm jabbed an explosive finger at the Thunderbird Appaloosa Farm just west of Snohomish. The bolt crackled through the Glen Guthrie home, shattering windows and scorching wiring. It then sizzled its way down a tall fir tree in the front
yard.
L.D. Warren, whose editorial cartoons appeared regularly in the Everett Daily Herald, was awarded the national Headliners Club’s top 1960 award for outstanding editorials at a meeting in Atlantic City, N.J..
25 years ago (1986)
A drive to collect clothing for the needy would be conducted next week by Honor Society members at Everett, Cascade, Marysville-Pilchuck and Snohomish high schools.
Mukilteo’s spring clean up was starting next week. Bundled or bagged items, except tires, rocks and sod would be picked up curbside. Rubatino Refuse Service and Northwest Garbage Company were participating.
