50 years ago (1961)
The Everett Yacht Club honored its old-timers when it met last night, giving life memberships to those who had held active membership for 25 years and more. Included among them were Ole Bond, Jack Vincent, John Sponek, Henry Brown, Bob Best, Tommy Lewis, Roy Jensen, Earle Mackey, Charles Seiler, J.R. Robinson, Otis Allen and Anson Moody.
Seniors of Lake Stevens High School were presenting their play, “Seventeenth Summer,” tonight and tomorrow night. In starring roles were Diane Christopherson, Jim Nordby, Mary Lipping, Karen Kallicot and Katy Falkner.
25 years ago (1986)
Brier Mayor Wayne Kaski said he was an electrician, not a politician. He arrived at the city hall every afternoon wearing his professional apparel — a plaid wool shirt, trousers with red suspenders and a baseball hat. Part-time mayor since 1982, he and his family had moved to Brier in 1971 because they were looking for a place in the country.
Harbour Pointe, south of Mukilteo and reached by the Boeing freeway, advertised sensational designs on new houses. Prices started at $97,950 for new homes with brick fireplaces, oak cabinets and huge master suites.
