50 years ago (1961)
Announcement of the purchase of the former Walton Lumber Company properties was made by Simpson-Lee Paper Co. No definite plans had been made for the property which was immediately north of Simpson-Lee along the Snohomish River.
Darelene Hayes and Wendy Bay-Schmith, seventh graders at South Junior High School, demonstrated how to make cottage cheese. The students in Martha Burrier and Sharon Inman’s home economics classes were studying milk and how it could be utilized.
25 years ago (1986)
The Everett Pacific Hotel was selected to receive the American Automobile Association Four-Diamond Award for 1986. The rating for a hotel, motel or resort was given by the AAA to properties that exceeded AAA requirements in most physical and operational categories.
Winner Lincoln-Mercury had joined auto row on Evergreen Way in the former home of Everett Datsun. The owners were Brian Medler and Rock Peterson. They were both with Brien Motors which now sold only Fords and Asuzus. Jim Roosman was the general manager, Glenn Hanson the general manager, and Mike Medler parts and service manager.
