50 years ago (1961)
The float-financing whiskbroom sale on going on in Everett. Ralph Quaas was the general chairman of the fundraising program being handled by the Everett Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Tom Brown, a fourth-grader in Grave Waite’s class at Fairmount Elementary School, watched a miniature volcano erupt. It was all in preparation for the Science Fair to be staged by Mukilteo schools in April. The science curriculum was developed around centers of human activity and problems of human concern considered essential to understanding the physical universe.
25 years ago (1986)
Myron Scougale received special recognition from the Everett School Board for his years of service to the district’s citizen levy committees, on which he served as campaign treasurer. He received a plaque and certificate at Monday night’s meeting of the school board.
The beach at Howarth Park would be closed throughout the summer, Everett Parks Director Bob Cooper told the park board. Cooper said the footbridge over the railroad tracks was torn down after it was found to be badly deteriorated. The new one would not be in place until September.
