50 years ago (1961)
Commemorating the 70th anniversary of Marysville as an incorporated community, Marysville Chamber of Commerce was having former mayors as guests for a dinner at Cedarcrest Restaurant. Mayor N.P. Gardner would be master of ceremonies with Dr. Robert Beaman, vice president of the chamber, as director of the program. It was believed that Elon E. Colvin, mayor from 1912 to 1918, would be the first available for the dinner.
Edmonds School District directors were making plans for a new Cedar Valley Elementary to be constructed on a 10-acre site at 52nd Ave. W. and 204 St. S.W. in Lynnwood. It would replace the Alderwood Manor Elementary School, which was to be converted for use as district administration headquarters.
25 years ago (1986)
Roy Yates had been named of the General Hospital and Dallas Finnell was the new foundation president. Yates succeeded Charles Gilfillan who served two years as board chairman.
Army Spec. Lance S. Bowyer was an infantryman with a field artillery brigade in West Germany. Andy Army Spec. David B. Moylan of Edmonds had completed a station technical controller course at Fort Gordon, Ga.
