50 years ago (1961)
Mae Williams, Pat Miers, Louise Wright, Dorothy Arnevik and Joan Roesler were vacationing at Idaho’s Sun Valley Ski Resort where Jerry Nelson and Mike Peterson were staff members. All were from Everett.
Ground was broken for the new Lake Stevens post office yesterday in ceremonies following a luncheon in Granite Falls. On hand were Hugh Miller, Granite Falls postmaster; John DeYoung, property owner; Gertrude Brooks, head clerk; Gordon Rux, Lake Stevens postmaster, and Bill Hawkins, mayor of Lake Stevens. New post offices had been going up all over the county.
25 years ago (1986)
Everett High School students Mike Grinnell and Scott Sollinger placed first and third respectively at the northwest regional Vocational Industrial Clubs of America contest at Lake Washington High School. Both would compete in a state contest in Vancouver.
Everett elementary school students, Lucas Ross of View Ridge and Amber Lee Ingraham of Whittier, were winners in a poster contest conducted by the Snohomish County Arts Council. Their work would appear on posters promoting the upcoming production of “The Magic Flute” at Civic Auditorium, sponsored by the Everett Opera Guild.
