Everett Bridge Club monthly master point winners were Nancy Horne and E.A. Herriman, first; Mark Bailey and Franck Cady, second; Cecelia Moore and Sonny Johnson, third; the R.C. Brewers, fourth, north-south; the William Schroeders, first; Betty Shadduck and Dr. Ron Tracy, second; the Ed Styltes, third, and Monte Havn and Berry Bailey, fourth, east west.
Furniture City was temporarily located uptown at 2714 Colby Ave. (the former location of Payless Foods and future location of the Treasure House), while their building at 2105 Broadway was being repaired and redecorated after a disastrous fire. Among items on sale were sectionals, dinette sets and broadloom carpeting.
25 years ago (1986)
President Reagan had declared this to be Volunteers of America Week. This gave the Everett and Marysville stores, as well as the Everett Bargain Basement, a reason for a super sale. Big savings could be found on all clothing, used furniture, color televisions, appliances, reupholstered furniture, mattresses, lamps and tools.
The Rev. Mark Samuelson, co-pastor of Central Lutheran Church in Everett, was elected for a second term as president of Luther Child Center’s board of directors.
