50 years ago (1961)
Bids would be opened soon for construction of an addition to the Everett Junior College physical education plant at 12th Street and Rockefeller Avenue. It would house a swimming pool, classrooms and a lobby for the entire physical education department. The southern extremity would be on ground currently occupied by the Boys Club building.
Hank Gaul’s downtown store was having its clearance of the century. Auggie Dombek said they never had offered a finer selection of suits and topcoats at reduced prices. The sale, offering a lay-away plan, was a huge January success
25 years ago (1986)
Finalists for the Man and Woman in Sports were Natasha Bamburger, Margaret Bavasi, Diane Black, Wendy Close, Bob Bavasi, Tom Campbell, Bruce Cook and Bruce Evans. Tickets were available through The Herald’s offices, Mill Creek Country Club, Cascade Savings and Rod Bly with Walsh-Platt Motors.
In military news Bill Olson and his wife, Jerelin, of Everett, were stationed at Alconbery AFB in England. Also, Raymond E. Morris, of Mountlake Terrace, was an Army specialist in a tracked vehicle crew in West Germany.
