Everett got its first street trees downtown with the planting of katsuras at the new home of First Federal Savings and Loan Association at Everett and Colby avenues. Marysville Nursery was supplying the trees.
Opening next week was Everett’s newest self-service laundry, Arro Laundry at 2502 Summit Ave. It was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with 20 Maytag washers and gas dryers available for use. Arro would do the laundry for customers, and offered both pickup and delivery service.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Visions of a sternwheeler propelling jovial sightseers around the city’s waterfront were torpedoed with news that the boat was sold last month to someone else, according to the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce. Karen Charnell of the Chamber was in search of another sternwheeler.
In the business notebook, Joan Barclay of Marysville was promoted to administrative assistant of the Everett District of H&R Block. She had been with the company for three years. Also, Steve Yonich was owner and Dale Ford manager of a new Raven Material Inc. in Everett.
