50 years ago (1962)
Commodore Henry Brown and his new corps of officers officially took over at the weekly meeting of the Everett Yacht Club aboard the Black Prince. Working with Brown during the coming year were Ernie Gallagher, Mike Baker, Jack Vincent and Lawrence Erickson. They were sworn in by Past Commodore Ed Chase.
Jan Iffrig in her Live Y’er column mentioned a cabinet breakfast at Janice Colburn’s home, attorney Jim Dolliver’s speech to sophomores, Tom Libbey’s election to Cascade Hi-Y president, advisers Jim Linden and Tim Berger for the Cascade Hi-Y program, and a work party at the home of Pam Crist.
25 years ago (1987)
Last week’s meeting of the Everett Rotary Club was a special occasion for guests Clark and Isabelle Salisbury. They were observing their 50 wedding anniversary and their son, Dallas Salisbury, was guest speaker.
Soroptimist International of Everett had moved its luncheon meetings to the Cascade Club at the top of the Seafirst Building. Another club, Zonta International of Everett, was working on its upcoming 11th annual auction with Virginia Gillikson as general chairwoman and Joan Ivanjack and Carla Hogan as co-chairwomen.
