50 years ago (1962)
Major Tod D. Burnam, 519 Wetmore Ave., an instructor at Everett Junior College, was currently on a 15-day active duty tour with the 8640th Air Force Reserve Recovery Group at Sand Point naval Air Station in Seattle. Major Burnam was a veteran of World War II.
Bena Mathews finished 1 up to lead the first division of Monroe Ladies Golf Club’s play on match against par. Becky Brady came in even to take second place. Frances Murphy, 3 up, won in the second division. Pearl Clark, second, finished 1 up. Next week’s competition would be on putts.
25 years ago (1987)
Patricia Curran was named president of the Everett’s Dynamic Center Marketing Inc., a new, wholly owned subsidiary of Roebling Management Co. of Hackensack, N.J. Curran was also director of corporate marketing of another subsidiary, Roebling Investment Co. in Everett. Mark Tipperman was named general counsel for both.
Andi Nelson of Marysville was promoted and transferred from manager of the Haggen store in Lynnwood to manager of TOP Foods in Everett. Nelson, who began as a part-time checker, had been with Haggen for nine years.
