50 years ago (1962)
Paul Kinnune, an Everett resident for 20 years, was appointed to the board of commissioners of the Port of Everett last night. An employee of the H.O. Seiffert Co., he lived at 616 Laurel Drive. Port Commission Chairman Tony Dyre said that Kinnune was a man who would serve the port district well.
The School-Park Recreation program, with the cooperation of Norman and Dusty Neely, would again present “Music in the Bowl” at Clark Park on Sunday. A number of musical units, including the Everett Eagles Band, would take part in the program.
25 years ago (1987)
Art in the Park, the free festival of the arts, continued today and tomorrow at Forest Park. With its emphasis on hands-on participation, the festival offered free workshops on art, music, dance, theater and ethnic culture.
Jetty Island Days continued with ferry rides to Jetty Island from the marina on 18th Street off Marine View Drive. Once there, visitors could view exhibits and take interpretive nature walks. The beach was great for swimming. Tonight’s schedule included an Indian program of displays, dancing and a campfire.
