50 years ago (1962)
Jack Oulette and George Martin were serenaded by the four Ever-Ettes at the United Good Neighbor Report Luncheon at the Elks Home. Singing their praises were Elaine Oke, Bette Thompson, Doris Dolman and Bonnie Dale.
Striking for three touchdowns in the first quarter, the Cascade Bruins humbled Mount Tahoma in a 34-7 non-conference drubbing here last night. At one point fullback Mike Malecki broke into the open for a 73-yard run. Fine play also came from Jeff Cushman, Pete Peterson, Len Showlund and Lou Stevenson.
25 years ago (1987)
Everett firefighters battled a fire in an abandoned bark storage building on Weyerhaeuser property near 7th Street and E. Marine View Drive the night before last. Fire inspector Warren Burns said there was no damage estimate on the all-metal building, which was built around two boxcars.
The Mill Creek City Council approved a preliminary plat for Foxglove, the approximately 57-acre parcel that was recently approved for annexation to the city. The Echelbarger Co. was developing the property which would have 174 homes and a park with two baseball fields overlaid by a soccer field.
