50 years ago (1962)
Frank Konechy was installed as grand knight of Everett Council, Knights of Columbus, at ceremonies at the Kaycee Hall. Joe Von Moos, the group’s district deputy, came to Everett from Mount Vernon to conduct the installation.
James H. Brauch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Burt, 2719 Cedar St., enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, and was undergoing basic training in San Diego. Upon completion of basic training, Brauch was to return to Everett for a 20-day leave.
25 years ago (1987)
Home Appliance T.V. &Satellite Center Inc., at 8910 Evergreen Way was holding its grand opening. They had specials on 50” giant-screen televisions, satellites, Whirlpool dishwashers, washers and dryers and microwaves. There were sister stores in Woodinville and Auburn.
Bob Terry wetted down a sand castle built by Kristine Keyes, Michael Kujala and Mike Terry. They were among the 200 people who took part in a sand castle contest sponsored by Edmonds Parks and Recreation. Others taking part were Gladys Cardiff and Don and Shirlee Schroeder.
