50 years ago (1962)
Recent Everett High School graduates Mary Goldstone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Goldstone, and Larry Iversen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Iversen, received the Everett Washington Quarterback scholarships. Both planned to attend the University of Washington. Leo Mullen was chair of the scholarship committee.
Ronald Eugene Hansen of Stanwood left today for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Ronald, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen of Stanwood and grandson of Mrs. Elvena Hansen of Everett, received his appointment earlier this month. He would attend the academy for four years.
25 years ago (1987)
Filling Paul Sjunnesen’s shoes wouldn’t be easy, but it would be challenging, said the Everett School District’s new assistant superintendent of business. Jeff Riddle, director of personnel and staff relations, recently was named to replace Sjunnesen, who becomes the district’s new superintendent.
Preliminary studies were underway to move the Edmonds School District headquarters to property the district owned near Edmonds Community College. The administrative offices were currently housed on 196th St. S.W.
