50 years ago (1962)
The Everett Camera Shop bowling team of June Johnson, Mary Johnson, Sheila Erickson, Edra McMurry and Mable Hill knocked down 2,945 pins to take third place in the C Division of the Women’s State Bowling Team in Tacoma. They were three pins below first place.
Behind the four-hit pitching of Jim Lonborg and Wally Bunder, the Everett Orioles crushed Birdland of Seattle last night. Manager Eddie Coleman split the chucking chores with Lonborg and Bunker; the former struck out seven while the latter whiffed eight.
25 years ago (1987)
Vera Moser discussed the Bible with Virginia Manor residents. Cathy Van Tuyl was the only link between Catholic residents of the Everett Plaza Retirement Home and the sacrament of Communion. The Catholic women were ministering as only a priest was allowed to do, up until a couple decades ago.
D.A. Duryee &Co., Real Estate, serving the county for more than 85 years, introduced their top salespeople for June. They were Rosemary Wehrman, (top lister), Roberta Menzies (total revenue), and Betty Wintch (top sales). Duryee had offices in Everett, Silver Lake and Snohomish.
