50 years ago (1962)
John David Bly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Bly, was a year old today. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Hilmo of Everett, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bly of San Diego, Calif. John David had two older brothers, Chris and Timmy.
Hank Fletcher of Lake Stevens, a founder of Lake Stevens Water Ski club, happily presented an armload of trophies to Dave Williams of the club. Young Williams, 16, won the boys’ tricks, slalom and jumping events and the overall trophy for the Northwest championship last fall.
25 years ago (1987)
A resource-recovery project for garbage burning suggested three sites — all in Everett. One was located on the other side of the river at a Rabanco site on Smith Island. A second was just across the river on the former Weyerhaeuser mill site. The third was next to river where the former dump/tire fire was.
Martin Lumber &Hardware, Inc. at 2730 Broadway had materials for all building needs. They also advertised gardening tools. Privacy style cedar lattice was just $14.99, while Redimix concrete was $1.99.
