50 years ago (1962)
Tomorrow would be the grand opening of the remodeled and enlarged Chester Beard Shoes. Employed there were Chester L. Beard, president; Chester L. “Bud” Beard Jr., vice president; Leonard Wright, assistant manager; Ann Edwards, credit manager; Barbara Peterson, stenographer; Molly Wright, handbags and hosiery; William Hubschmitt and Hollis Grubb, salesmen; and Dennis English, stock boy.
Pfc. Dennis Brose, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Brose, 17228 Highway 99 N., Lynnwood, recently completed a week of testing and screening at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tenn.
25 years ago (1987)
Kennedy Hot Springs in the Glacier Peak Wilderness area was being loved to death. License plates at the White Chuck Trail’s parking lot were from all over the country. Ranger Rob Greene urged bathers at the popular springs to pack out their litter. The scenic spot attracted 6,000 visitors a year.
Vista Optical, located inside Fred Meyer shopping Center at 9925 Old Highway 99 in Marysville, was proud to announce an association with Dr. Kenneth Hwanh, optometrist. The firm dealt with family vision care, routine eye exams and glaucoma testing.
