Jack W. Pearson, 1019 Colby Ave., was awarded an Efficiency Production Certificate by New York Life Insurance Company, said Gerald D. Hyde, general manager of the company’s Everett general office.
Frank Thomas of Marysville and his son, Thomas, freed a bucket of husky rainbow trout in the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River under the watchful eyes of Lee Ann and David Keller of Everett. Interested fishermen had the urge to begin fishing, but didn’t.
25 years ago (1987)
The walk to the altar was about to get a tad more expensive in Snohomish County. Beginning in July, the cost of a marriage license would be $31, an increase of $5. The county auditor’s office blamed the price increase on the state Senate, who increased the portion of the fee that went to a fund for “displaced homemakers.”
While others were enjoyed the balmy weather, tenders of the Highway 529 bridge over Ebey Slough were uttering quiet complaints about the hot sun. When the heat was on, the bridge wouldn’t shut. That put the swing-draw bridge out of commission for about five hours the previous day.
