50 years ago (1962)
Frank Weeks of Cascade Tractor Co., Everett, was one of 25 Ford tractor and industrial equipment representatives from the western region of the U.S. who attended a two-day industrial equipment seminar in San Francisco this week. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange successful merchandising ideas.
Penny Grainger, Patty Armitage and Julie Johnson, Pixie Blue Birds, planted a rhododendron at Madison School. It was part of an Arbor Day project at the school. Others in their group were Patricia Pedigo, Karolyn Thompson, Christy Rapp, Anita Colby and Debbie Ross.
25 years ago (1987)
Caprice Wellman of Everett Community College tied her personal record in the high jump at 3 foot, 4 inches in EvCC’s mini-invitational at Everett Memorial Stadium. Trojans Tony Anderman and Brian Braathen both qualified for the NWAACC championship in the pole vault.
Samuel Scafe, eighth-grader at Lake Stevens, was awarded a scholarship to a U.S. Space Academy session this year. He would join 9,000 young people nationwide who would use astronaut training and space shuttle simulators at a new training center at the Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville, Ala.
