50 years ago (1962)
Students modeled styles, from sportswear to formal, with Leslie Alexander narrating at the luncheon program for the Pilchuck Council Horizon conference at Warm Beach. The models included Helen Scougale, Marilyn Winde, Dan Lindblom, Mike Baer and Jim Baer.
Three fifth-graders, Willie Jenkins, Todd Wallenberg and Chuck Carpenter, put on a carnival last summer to raise money for the Easter Seals campaign. This week they visited the Snohomish County Center for the Handicapped to learn from Marvel Douglas how the funds were put to use.
25 years ago (1987)
A malfunction in the conveyor system was the possible cause of several small fires that broke out in pipes at E.A. Nord Co. Everett firefighters spent two hours putting out the fires in pipes that supplied wood fuel to the boilers, said Battalion Chief Tom Haugstad.
George Magnochi posed with his Holsteins outside the milking parlor at Monte Villa farm. He was a holdout from giving in to pressures for a business park in North Creek Valley. Dairy farmers had been on the land, located in south Snohomish County east of I-405, since the 1920s.
