50 years ago (1962)
Ellis Sigmon, who ran the hobby shop upstairs at Coys Toy Shop, 2605 Colby Ave., exhibited a model of a World War I British Vickers airplane, vintage 1914-15. It was one of hundreds of model planes he had constructed in the past 30 years.
Sheryl Lynne Birks was celebrating her second birthday at her home in LaRochelle, France. Her parents were Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Howard W. Birks, stationed there in the U.S. Army. Following the assignment they planned to make their home in Everett.
25 years ago (1987)
NASA astronaut Dr. Linda Goodwin would be guest speaker at a noon meeting of Everett Zonta Club at the Everett Golf and Country Club. The meeting was open to the public and information was available by calling Doris Abrahamsen.
Two local people in the service were in the news. John L. Kallerson of Edmonds, an Army first lieutenant, had received the Army’s Achievement Medal at Fort Bragg, N.C., where he was an airborne division platoon leader. Learning the skills of an Air Force photographic specialist at Lowry Air Force Base, Colo., was Matthew W. Schneider, an airman from Stanwood.
