50 years ago (1962)
West Coast Telephone Co. announced the scheduling of an open house for the general public this weekend at its new general office building, 1800 41st St. L. Gray Beck, general manager, said the facilities were unique to the area and wanted everyone to stop in.
Linnie Pierson of Arlington, who was 90 years old today, was being honored at an open house next Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Wheeler Grange Hall in Oso. Mrs. Pierson had come across the plains in a covered wagon and homesteaded in Snohomish County in the 1880s. Her children were hosts for the open house.
25 years ago (1987)
Two people taking leadership positions were Karen Charnell, Everett Chamber of Commerce tourism director who was named chairwoman for Tourism Region 4, and Richard Harding, who was being installed as exalted ruler of Everett Elks Lodge No. 479.
Preliminary plans were shared for a 103-acre development in southwest Everett that city officials hoped would boom with business-park projects in coming years. Merrill Creek Associates was seeking binding site and master plans. The company was named for Merrill and Ring Creek which ran through the property.
