50 years ago (1962)
Plans were announced for a complete remodel of the Great Northern Railway depot on Bond Street. The tower and peaked roof would be removed. The freight depot offices, currently at Pacific and Smith, would be moved to the reconstructed depot. There had been talk of a new building on the east side, but the idea was abandoned.
Chef Glenn Werner served Margie Briggs a sample of hotcakes while Olivia Park Principal John Lynn looked on. The school’s PTA breakfast had a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Also taking part in the meal were Jack Elsberry, Evelyn Weaver and Betty Kissell.
25 years ago (1987)
An informal group of women led by Snohomish County Clerk Kay Anderson was seeking a small YMCA outlet in Everett to guide women in trouble to the help they needed. Anderson envisioned a center where victims of domestic violence could get help.
