50 years ago (1962)
One of six chosen to work with the Air Force, Larry Helaas of the U.S. Navy would soon be stationed on Travis Air Force Base in California. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben N. Helaas of 2223 Rockerfeller Ave., the Everett High School graduate was home on leave now after serving on Midway Island in the South Pacific Ocean.
An informative talk on Formosa would be the feature during the lecturer’s hour at the meeting of the Priest Point Grange. Edith Danielson was the speaker. A potluck dinner would be served in the hall.
25 years ago (1987)
Snohomish County’s Parks and Recreation Division had scheduled a meeting for interested citizens to discuss Silver Creek Park, a site east of the Bothell-Everett Highway and south of 180th Street. It would be held at Family Savings Bank on the Bothell-Everett Highway.
A major expansion of Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington would be completed on schedule in July, spokeswoman Connie Hopkins reported. The $6.7 million project would replace one wing of the current building, which was built in the 1950s. The new three-story building was started in June.
