50 years ago (1962)
Receiving a check for her second year of training in Everett General Hospital from the Society of 40 and 8, (honor society of the American Legion), was Arlene Froembgen, Snohomish. Members donating were Frank Borys, chef de gare; Fred Schumitz, Child Welfare chairman; and John M. Nelson, assistant.
Open house was scheduled for tomorrow at Abrahamson Nursing Home at 2520 Madison St. The home recently opened a large addition to accommodate 35 additional patients. The former area housed 41. Warner’s Building Supply provided building materials, Dean Electric did the wiring, A.S. Aloe provided interior furnishings and decorations, and Tri-City Sand and Gravel poured the foundation. Congratulations came from Walter Higgins Insurance.
25 years ago (1987)
Arlington High School grad Grant W. Brenneka, an Army specialist, had been awarded the Army Achievement Medal at Fort Lewis where he was an armor division food service specialist.
Serving on Okinawa was Marine Sgt. Philipp C. Turner of Lynnwood, who was to participate in a three-month tour in the Republic of the Philippines to train with the Philippines army.
