50 years ago (1961)
Garfield School’s Cub Pack 3, under the direction of Cubmaster Dave Shipley and Bob Anderson, his assistant, was going to beautify Riverdale Park’s ball field by planting a row of evergreens to supplant the old wooden fence around the outfield. Steve Shipley and Frank Anderson planted the first of the seedlings.
The old club hall would continue to serve the Mukilteo Heights Community according to a report on a hearing held last week. In preparation for a membership drive in the near future Mr. and Mrs. Chester Anderson, George Woods and Mrs. Phipps agreed to serve on a planning committee.
25 years ago (1986)
Everett Hobbycraft at 5108 Evergreen Way had holiday gifts galore. This included all sizes of train sets, Everett’s largest model section and materials for tremendous craft ideas. They were open seven days a week.
The Eye Opener at Smokey Point Plaza was having a Liquidation Sale. All items in the store, including women’s, juniors’ and children’s clothing, were 50 to 60 percent off. All sales were final with no refunds and no exchanges.
