50 years ago (1961)
After tomorrow a familiar name in Everett would be no more. The First National Bank of Everett was merging with Seattle First National Bank. With the eight new banks, Sea-First, with deposits of more than $1 billion, would be the twentieth largest bank in the United States.
In announcing the tenth anniversary of the merger of Scott Paper Co. with Soundview Pulp Company in Everett, Scott revealed that its annual payroll in the mill here was now $10 million. In addition, over 1 million units of paper products were made daily, each bearing the mark of “Everett, Washington.”
25 years ago (1986)
Ruth, Michelle and Shelly invited one and all to the grand opening of The Herren’s Nest on Evergreen Way in South Pointe Plaza. They had sandwiches, salads and soups as well gourmet wine and cheese. The seventh sandwich was free.
Another grand opening taking place in south Everett was at the new Jack in the Box at 1505 S.E. Everett Mall Way.
