50 years ago (1961)
Chefs Larry Pavish and Frank Godiva were preparing rare delicacies for the Smorgasbord being sponsored by Marysville Junior High School PTA. Tickets were available at the door. Pavish was a teacher at the junior high and Godiva was principal at Shoultes School.
Everett Assembly No. 9, International Order of Rainbow for Girls met in the Masonic Temple. New members were initiated and committee chairmen gave reports. Initiated were Kathy Matheson, Nancy Schwartz, J’lenda McBee, Deanne Smith, Marian Borchgrevnik and Donna Bruskrud. Elizabeth Estes received the necklace for outstanding ritual work. Reports were given by Nancy Cunningham and Irene Marr.
25 years ago (1986)
Four local residents were among 32 centenarians being honored at a party in Seattle’s Westin Hotel. They were Jessie Kaune of Everett; Bessie Hubbard of Stanwood; Bertha Hartzell of Edmonds; and Maude Agard of Woodinville. The event was being staged by Friedlanders.
Walt and Ruth Precht were recently in Orlando, Fla., attending the National Conference of the Funeral Service Examining Board. At the gathering he was honored as a past president.
